HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR BODY MASS INDEX (BMI)
Your Body Mass Index (BMI) is an estimation of how much body fat you have. It is a good guide to how much weight you may wish to lose. Here’s the formula:
Weight (kg) / {Height (m) X Height (m)}
For example, if your weight is 74 kg and height 1.68 m, your BMI is 74 / (1.68 x 1.68) = 26.2, which falls in the overweight range.
So your goal may be to lose 10 kg to 64 kg. Then your BMI would be 22.7, and you would have achieved normal weight!
The general guide for the BMI readings is as follows:
Less Than 18.5 |
Underweight |
18.5 – 24.9 |
Normal Weight |
25 – 29.9 |
Overweight |
30 & Above |
