Some time back, my 83 year old Mom went for a major surgery because there were two knots in her small intestines. The surgery was successful and she recovered very well. Praise Jesus!
Throughout my Mom’s stay in the hospital, there was water retention or edema in her feet (she has arthritis as well).
Despite placing her feet on the chair during the day, and raising her feet whenever she laid down, there was not much improvement.

When she got stronger, I helped her to walk. As seen in the photo below, her shoes were tight because of the edema.

After ten days, the water retention didn’t subside much.
While administering medicine for my Mom, the nurse said she was short of potassium.
On the day of discharge, the doctor encouraged my Mom to do some resistance exercises for her feet to help rid the edema.
Two days after her discharge, I passed my sister some potassium supplement or K salt for my Mom. The dosage was 1/4 teaspoon of potassium powder in 8oz glass of water four times a day.

After just three days, the water retention was gone!

I was amazed at how fast the potassium supplement worked! And she didn’t even do any resistance exercises for her feet!
Are you suffering from edema?
Water retention can be due to medications as in my Mom’s case, excess intake of table salt and food seasonings, etc.
The best way to tackle edema is supplementing with potassium or K salt.
Potassium supplement is also essential for weight loss, high blood pressure, to prevent cough and colds, and much more.
